The American Bulldog is an athletic, spirited but stable medium to large dog that strength, speed and confidence radiates. The overall picture is that of alertness and intelligence. By officially recognizing two different types of American bulldogs, "Standard" and "Classic", the ABNA requires that these types inspected separately from each other.
While the ABNA has decided to distinguish two types, the Classic (formerly Johnson) and Standard (formerly Scott), do not imply there is no respect or appreciation for these two gentlemen who have contributed so much to the current race. The motivations behind this change is simple. We want not only deal with individual personalities but want to project that several of the major American bulldog breeders have been.
Sizes and Weights
The height of the dog should be between 56 and 71 cm and weight between 31 and 55 kg. For females the level is between 50 and 66 cm and weight between 27 and 45 pounds. The weight are in proportion to the height and body type. The dogs must be in good condition and certainly not too fat or too thin.
Standard, a slender, athletic type
Classic, a major and more powerful appearance.
Color
Whole or preferably as much as possible white, all shades of brindle, brown, red or leather-like acceptance.
Completely black, black and brown, and / or any degree of marble is not accepted. A full black mask is not preferred.
Coat
Short, less than 2.5 cm ranging from soft to stick hairy. Long haired or fluffy coat is not accepted.
Head
The head is relatively large and broad but in proportion to the whole appearance of the dog. The head is flat and gives a nearly square appearance. There is a "channel" between the eyes and the dog has a pronounced stop. The head is well muscled, with prominent jaws. An excessively narrow head is not accepted in both types.

Eyes

Muzzle

Teeth

Bite

Nose

Ears

Neck

Shoulders

Chest
